Newsletter Info

stratospheric

Content

The title of club newsletter is 'Stratospheric', which most people would agree is a fitting choice for this publication.

As with all club newsletters, the content will depend upon what has been sent in by members (see submissions below). Some of this content will be reproduced on the web site, but that will usually be held until after publication of the club newsletter.

In addition to articles sent in by club members, plus adverts, the newsletter includes listings of forthcoming events of interest. It also features columns by the editor and the club secretary, results from any competitions.

Issue Timetable

Latest Issue Cover

The latest issue of the club newsletter (Issue 73) has recently been sent out to all club members.

Copies of the newsletter will also be sent to magazine publishers that cover areas of interest to club members.

The next issue of the club newsletter is due out by the end of September (time permitting, as always). Following issues are expected to be on a quarterly basis, with a minor adjustment to fit in with the end of the year. The current timetable is therefore as follows:

Issue NoIssue Date
072Spring 2007
073Summer 2007
074Autumn 2007
075Winter 2007

This timetable is subject to change, without notice. Additional newsletters may be produced as and when required. Other club information will also be sent out to members whenever applicable.

Advertising

Classified advertisements are available free of charge to members. Other classified adverts may be included from non-members if these are deemed to be of interest to club members.

Trade advertisements are available at a small cost .      Please contact the Editor with your requirements as prices are likely to change.

Colour flyers may be included for advertisers' products at an extra charge, to cover administrative effort and the cost of postage.

Send advertising copy to the newsletter editor in advance of the final copy date, ideally via email. Payment will be required once the newsletter has been published and distributed to members, whereupon you should ensure that you send payment to the club treasurer, who will send you a receipt if required.

Submissions

Articles of any Stratos-related content are welcome for inclusion in the club newsletter, whether submitted by members or non-members. Please note that the members of this club all have in common a great interest in the Lancia Stratos, both real and replica, and often have similar interests in other rally or competition cars and events.

Contributions can be sent in electronic form to strateditor@ntlworld.com
Formats accepted include the following:

  • Plain text files
  • HTML text files
  • JPEG, PNG or GIF image files
  • MS-Word .doc files
(ideally with images in separate files)

Adobe Acrobat files are not suitable for inclusion in the newsletter as they do not allow for page numbering or for consistent page layouts, headers and footers.

The editor reserves the right to make changes to the content of any articles submitted for inclusion in the newsletter. This will usually only be performed to address layout issues or to correct grammar or spelling where this is deemed suitable. There is no guarantee that articles submitted will appear in the newsletter, but effort will be provided to try and include all content that is provided by members.

Distribution

The newsletter is now supplied on CD-Rom. This allows the club to issue a multimedia publication and include Movies and additional bonus material. The actual newsletter is supplied on the CD in either a MS Word doc or Adobe Acrobat pdf file which can of course be printed in colour (on white paper, A4 size) on your home printer.

These electronic copies are also  used to produce archive collections on CD-ROM, which are made available to club members from time to time. The entire collection of  issue 1 to present is available free of charge to all members.

Please contact either the Membership Secretary or Newsletter Editor if you require a back issue CD.

Editor

The current newsletter editor is Mick Worrall who has owned a CAE Corse Stratos replica in the Blue, White and Yellow Olio Fiat livery for several  years now, using it on the road but has used it on a number of track days too.

It should also be appreciated that all committee positions held with the Stratos Enthusiasts Club are held by unpaid volunteers. The Editor will strongly defend the position of any other club officials, past or present, should members or non-members offer unwarranted criticism. That said, constructive criticism is accepted and even welcomed if offered with an intention to improve the operation of the club - just please be fair and reasonable!
