Nico Alonzi's Hawk HF3000
"For sheer looks alone, there is very little to beat the Strato's, surely
one of the most mental designs ever. For its presence, nostalgia and
downright horniness, a Strato's replica is what most of the 'Car and Car
Conversions' crew would choose". CCC, April 1996.

Nico’s car was purchased from the original
builder, Bob Sharp, about 2 years ago, and is a near authentic replica of the Strato's produced by Transformer (Hawk) Cars. The chassis is a tubular steel and
folded section frame with integral roll cage to RACMSA/FIA specification. All
body panels are in unstressed GRP. Suspension geometry, braking,
instrumentation, steering and trim details all follow the original car's
specification. Many items such as lights, instruments, switches, door catches,
etc. are original Strato's items. The engine is an Alfa Romeo 3 litre V6 unit
which produces around 200 bhp. The car is painted in an original Strato's colour
(Fiat Verde). Front suspension comprises nylatron and rose - jointed wishbones
with adjustable AVO dampers. Rear suspension is also nylatron/rose - jointed
plus Leda struts with adjustable spring platforms. The car has been converted
from the road - going ‘Stradale’ version to full Group 4 spec including square
rear arches, front headlamp pod and roof vent. Brakes are standard front and
rear but the single master cylinder and servo has been replaced with a twin
system and Tilton balance bar.
Inside the car is fully trimmed in black
carpet and black velour headlining and dash. All frame sections are also covered
in black vinyl. Switches and dials are all original parts. A ‘Personal’ steering
wheel and Corbeau seats complete the inside. A floor mounted throttle assembly
replaces the ‘A’ post system.
Wheels are two piece alloys yellow powder
coated made by ‘Image’. Front are 8” and rear 12” with Yokohama tyres (195x15
front and 345 x 15 rear).
