Computer Games

The eye-catching appearance of the Lancia Stratos, and its exceptional competition record, means that it is frequently included in all manner of computer-based games and driving simulations, whether on PC's or games consoles. Those games that club members (well, the webmaster at present) are aware of are described here. Hint, please let me know of others!

Shox!

This arcade-style rally racing game involves lots of sideways driving on varied terrain, including mud, sand, ice, snow and tarmac. The Lancia Stratos in this game manages to annoy the webmaster at least, as it is pretty well unstable (like the real car, perhaps?) and particularly bad on jumps, leading to spectacular results and losing places when racing!

Shox is reviewed in summary here, here, and here, amongst many locations.
This game, published by Electronic Arts, also includes mention of the Stratos Supersite in it's credits, well done that man!

Gran Turismo - GT2

This older driving/racing simulation game is available for the Sony Playstation PS2 platform, at least. No other details at present! (But a google web search will provide plenty of info with keywords 'Gran Turismo GT2')

Unfortunately the Lancia Stratos is not included in the range of cars in the later version of the game, GT3 (or GT3 A-spec), but it is apparently going to make a reappearance in the next iteration - GT4.

Sega Rally Championship

From the arcade machines to your Windows PC, this straightforward but none-the-less exciting rally game features the Stratos as a bonus car, so you need to do well with the Toyota Celica and Lancia Delta Integrale to get in the driving seat. Or you can search on the web for 'cheat codes' to enable the car directly!!!

Read one of the many reviews of this game here.

Racer Simulation

Racer is free racecar simulation software that you can run on Windows and Linux machines, which uses real physics theory to accurately mirror the responses and behaviours of the cars. Graphics is handled well, depending on the 3D modelling of both cars and tracks - which you can edit or create yourself, a really neat touch.

Download a copy of the latest Racer software from www.racer.nl and then add your preferred car and track definitions, as created by a large number of talented users. Obvious choice of cars to add will be the Lancia Stratos, which has been crafted by Butch at Racer Bolide, in a range of colour schemes.
